Two Black Boxes and A Murderer

I don't blog politics. But like many of us, I suppose I had images of them--Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev--defying the pronouncements of the politicians and walking triumphantly out of Lebanon. And the parades that would follow (like the one we still imagine--perhaps one day?--for Ron Arad). But instead only funerals:

And here is part of the package of what was given up for the black boxes... And this...

This is not politics. This is Arab terrorism and Israel committing suicide.

Though I only spent a year in Israel and have never really understood Israeli politics (or just plain politics)I have mixed feelings. I don't think Israel committed suicide as Josh says and I do understand why it was done. If it was my son I would want closure either way. For the victims killed by Kuntar I feel for them and nothing would ever bring them closure. The one positive thing about the exchange is that its a known fact that most prisoners do not fair well after serving so much time in jail. The chances of Kuntar living a normal life and being functional in society are slim and i'm sure he will meet an untimely death as so many criminals do. The Israeli government will also save a fortune not having to look after the prisoners. I'm sure where they are going they will have a lot of trouble keeping a roof over their heads and trouble getting 3 square meals a day. From my vantage point here in Canada Israel does not look weak at all in fact the Lebanese look pitiful and barbaric. Don't believe everything you read in the papers. The majority of North Americans and Western Europeans see and fear the insanity of the Muslim Extremists. Brad (Shira's Dad)
